Europe's First Integrated Rare Earth Processing Facility

Overview

AITAS is building a dual-technology rare earth processing facility in Lithuania that addresses both the recycling mandate (25% by 2030) and the processing gap (40% domestic by 2030) established under the EU Critical Raw Materials Act.

Our approach combines Deep Eutectic Solvents (DES) for long-loop chemical processing with Hydrogen Decrepitation (HPMS) for short-loop magnet recycling and creating a capital-efficient facility that can process diverse feedstocks from day one.

Technology

Technology Function IP Status TRL Pilot Cost
Deep Eutectic Solvents (DES) Primary separation from concentrates and e-waste Open source (core chemistry) 7-8 €0.7-1.5M
Conventional Hydrometallurgy Acid leaching + solvent extraction Open source 9 €1.0-1.5M
HyProMag HPMS Direct magnet-to-magnet recycling Licensed from HyProMag Ltd 8 €2-5M
Ion Exchange Polishing Final high-purity separation Open source 9 €0.5-1.0M
