Europe's First Integrated Rare Earth Processing Facility
Overview
AITAS is building a dual-technology rare earth processing facility in Lithuania that addresses both the recycling mandate (25% by 2030) and the processing gap (40% domestic by 2030) established under the EU Critical Raw Materials Act.
Our approach combines Deep Eutectic Solvents (DES) for long-loop chemical processing with Hydrogen Decrepitation (HPMS) for short-loop magnet recycling and creating a capital-efficient facility that can process diverse feedstocks from day one.
Technology
| Technology | Function | IP Status | TRL | Pilot Cost |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Deep Eutectic Solvents (DES) | Primary separation from concentrates and e-waste | Open source (core chemistry) | 7-8 | €0.7-1.5M |
| Conventional Hydrometallurgy | Acid leaching + solvent extraction | Open source | 9 | €1.0-1.5M |
| HyProMag HPMS | Direct magnet-to-magnet recycling | Licensed from HyProMag Ltd | 8 | €2-5M |
| Ion Exchange Polishing | Final high-purity separation | Open source | 9 | €0.5-1.0M |
